Why the Name......Fish Kitchen 1931
We often get asked the significance of the 1931 in our name.... well, it comes from the fact that our shop 1st opened as a Fish & Chip Restaurant in 1931, and was famously known as ‘The Conti Fish & Chips’. Therefore, we felt it was important to celebrate this history and therefore we included it in our name!
Our celebration of local history doesn’t stop there! We also celebrate our local mining history inside our restaurant, as our 6 Booths are named after a local Colliery. Namely; Bargoed Colliery, Penallta Colliery, Ogilvie Colliery, Elliott Colliery, Oakdale Colliery and Senghenydd Colliery. Inside each Booth, is a TV that tells the story of the aforementioned collieries. Why not book a Booth and dine with us, you might even see a photo of a relative who worked in one of the mines!
Thank you for choosing us, we hope you have a historic dining experience!
